To me, one of the most successful forms of social media is Twitter. What is Twitter if not a giant microblogging domain for people, companies, celebrities, and even countries to share their thoughts and ideas. I myself have a Twitter account (@abby_Chii) and pretty much everyone I know has one as well. In this day and age to be known you have to have a strong Twitter presence. One example I can think of is the fast food restaurant Wendy's. They are very much engaged in their social media presence on Twitter. They read their followers tweets and comments and make decisions based on their consumers desires. Wendy's literally brought back the spicy nuggets just because Chance the
Rapper tweeted about wanting the spicy nuggets to come back. This shows how much Wendy's pays attention to their Twitter game. Wendy's also engages in Troll activity in the form of making hilarious clap backs on other fast food company Tweets that regularly make the front page of Reddit. To say the least, Wendy's has a very strong and positive Twitter presence. Another thing that is unique to Twitter is that regular people and Celebrities have a chance to interact with one another. If a person tweets about Ryan Reynolds chances are he might see it and if it's clever enough he might respond to it. Jimmy Kimmel has taken advantage of this in the form of Celebrities Read Mean Tweets. It's a segment on his show where the celebrities he's interviewed read tweets that fans (or non-fans) have tweeted, and usually the most hilarious tweets are chosen to be read aloud. I love Twitter for these reasons, because it gives me the sense of a true connection to the people and corporations that I admire. I mean.. I've only given a couple examples as to why Twitter is a great social media site, but it really is the SMS of the internet.
