Almost Thanksgiving Break!

It's almost time for Thanksgiving and I don't know about all of you but I love celebrating this holiday. It's the perfect way to celebrate because all you have to do is cook food, drink some wine, and relax with family. There's no decorating or having to buy gifts, just family and friends enjoying a meal together while laughing and sharing stories. A lot of people I know aren't able to see their families and have adopted the tradition of Friendsgiving. I'm lucky enough to be able to do both Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving with my friends here in Ohio and my family in Illinois. I'm looking forward to seeing my family's reaction when they see my green hair because I haven't seen them since I colored it. I will update you all on how that goes after my Thanksgiving break.

I find it so interesting hearing about different family traditions other families have for Thanksgiving. My husband's family doesn't make turkey their main dish, rather his mother prepares alcatra which is a Portuguese pot roast. His family is from the Azores and his mother's cooking is delicious and worth the wait for every visit. My family has the tradition of a Thanksgiving ham as our main course rather than a turkey because over the years we've come to find more of us like the ham than the turkey.

Thanksgiving is more than just gorging and football it's an uncomplicated holiday that brings people together to relax and enjoy each others company. It's about laughter and simple traditions anyone can enjoy.
